The spirit of free enterprise, the acceptance of challenge, and pursuit of goals were epitomized by Luke Postolos and are part of the essence of the Academic Scholarship awarded to deserving students by the Luke Postolos Scholarship Foundation.
The Foundation envisions enabling the continuation of learning for a select group of qualified students.
The selection process is based upon the student possessing qualities and values which typify Luke Postolos in citizenship, leadership, professionalism and free enterprise.
To date, over 30 scholarship have been awarded for a total of $70,000. Many of these students have gone on to graduate and obtain a degree.
Mr. Luke Postolos served on the Advisory Committee for Vocational Education for North East indipendent School District for three years and served as its chiarman in 1981 to 1982. In April 1982 he was elected to serve a 3-year term on the North East Schools Board of Trustees.
Mr. Postolos also server on the St. Philips College Board for more than three years and also served on the Alumni Board of Trinity University.
In August of 1982, he was the recipient of the Oustanding Service Award at the Vocational Education meeting in Austin sponsored by the Area 7 Directors and Supervisor Association.
One of the thins that Mr. Postolos spent much of his free time doing was consueling someone who was just starting out in the business or listening to someone who was having problems. His greatest reward in this endeavor was to see another one in his own industry become successful.
